RE: Newbies...need info on National

I have a little rust on my frame also, I just paint on some POR 15 and stop worrying about it. Do you live in the rust belt has it been driven of salted roads, if so I'd look closer.
As for seals and lens National bought from suppliers so you should
be able to find replacements. A company in Calif. bought the molds for the end caps so even if you had an accident you should be able to get it fixed.
I think if it was one with a side wall problem it would have shown up by now. So if you don't see any de-lamination you are probably alright.

RE: Battery Disconect Switch

I would leave it on and check the water once a month and install a trickle L start to keep the starting batt. charged.

RE: Flushing My ATF

While doing this also install an in-line filter in the return line. If you ever have to replace a trans it is required by Ford. Ford part number FT-167 $46.27(last time I purchased) Same filter NAPA 1-8514 $22.49.

RE: Class "A" floor mats

You can use small throw rugs, or do like I did and get a set that go in the rear seat area of a car.

RE: Vent cap broke and blew off

When you go to get the new cap also pick up a Max-air vent cover and install it then you can leave the cover up rain or shine and while towing it and the cap will not break again.

RE: E-Brake Fluid Change

He has a F53 Ford the E- brake is at the end of the trans. That the drive shaft connects to. In the front just above the cable is a pipe plug. This needs to be checked, and changed occasionally.

RE: leveling jack and tire

Done it several times no problem. Have heard that if you have installed air bags not to take the wheels off the ground.

RE: Kill-a-watt at Camping World for $25

I use mine to make sure the camp ground power is up to standards. Can check the on board Generator to make sure it is powering up to 120 volts. And if the Hz are at 60, etc. you can tell when every one in the campground fires up there A/C's and the volts drop.

RE: retro fit or replace jack knife with vents 1998 southwind

My sofa also has the heat vent coming out the front but when you look under the sofa they come up through the floor so if I ever replace my sofa I'll just cut the vent tube back and make the vent level with the floor making it a floor vent.

RE: Am I getting AC power?

Not a batt. problem because you took them out. Your 12volt lights are now running off the power from your converter (taking 110 volts {shore power} and turning it into 12 volts). Now that you have the batts. out take them to the parts store and have them do a load test on them. Then you will know if you need new Batts. or not.

RE: Am I getting AC power?

Your RV has 2 elec. systems 12 volt and 110 volt. 12 volts will run all lights, jack motors, slide motors, igniter for frig.,hot water heater, furnace, and furnace fan.
110 will power converter, roof AC,microwave, When hooked up to shore power the converter or it could be an inverter will power all 12 volt and charge the house batt.s. and 110 will power the Roof AC, microwave, etc.
Check your house batt. when hooked to shore power and see if they are getting charged, it sounds like they aren't.

RE: Pressure Pro users

The reason I take mine off is to extend batt. life. Plus the ones on the toad stick out past the rim and I don't want to tear one off going off road or on a curb.

I take my senders off between trips and have been having trouble with the little red inside sealers tearing. Well I took a SMALL dab of anti-seize and put it on the tip of each valve stem before installing the senders no more torn inside red seals. Same idea as putting a little oil on he rubber filter seal before installing.

RE: Headlight replacement Bounder

If the above doesn't work most are just headlights form any of the big 3 manufactures. Get the numbers off the lens and NAPA should be able to match them. Or try 1001 headlights.com

RE: Help!! First Time RV'r.... Can't get generator to crank

You have 2 systems in the RV 12volt and 110. All lights run off 12volt Air conditioner (AC) microwave, TV, run off 110volts. Do you have lights working in the RV if not the house batteries have been turned off and the generator will not start (most use house batt.to start). There should be a switch that turns off the house batt. if so turn it on and see if the generator will start.
Also check the state of charge on your house batt.(they could be dead).
